Miramar Federal Credit Union has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for the military since 1952. Whether it’s donating to non-profits, supporting worthwhile causes, or sponsoring community events, MFed strives to make a difference locally, now and in the future, for our members. Here are some of the recent ways MFed has been giving back.
San Diego Financial Literacy Center (SDFLC)
MFed has partnered with SDFLC because Military Matters. The San Diego Financial Literacy Center (SDFLC) enhances the financial IQ of San Diego County residents with a focus on youth (K-12 & College), military (active, transitioning and veteran), and low-to-moderate income persons. They provide complimentary and custom built educational seminars and workshops, and one on one financial consultations and budget analysis.
USO San Diego Centers are provided for the comfort and convenience of all military personnel — Active Duty, Reserve, Guard — and their family members. MFed hosts periodic Tuesday Night Dinners, weekly dinners that give military families an opportunity for a night out free of cooking, cleaning and dish duty!
Operation Homefront provides 3 R’s — Relief, Recovery, and Recognition to military families. From providing assistance during difficult times, to aiding in wounded warrior recovery, to showing support to military spouses and recognizing extraordinary military children, Operation Homefront is all encompassing.
Operation Homefront does not receive any government monies, so we assist them with donation drives and by volunteering for their various programs.
San Diego State Unviersity — Joan and Art Barron Veterans Center
MFed has partnered with the SDSU Joan and Art Barron Veterans Center to support them — in new ways! We wanted to enhance their members by giving in a way they are currently not supported. MFed provides vererans’ with scholarships for general purposes and books.
The Rosie Network
The Rosie Network’s mission is to build stronger military families through entrepreneurial programs and support services that empower military spouses, transitioning service members and veterans, increasing the financial stability and self-sufficiency of American families who serve.
The Rosie Network is a San Diego based, 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2012 by three US Navy SEAL spouses in the “We Can Do It” spirit of WWII icon, Rosie the Riveter. Home to San Diego's first Military Entrepreneur Development Center, the 12-month Service2CEO initiative and Rosie's List, TRN provides entrepreneurial support for military spouses, veterans and transitioning service members looking to launch and grow their small businesses. For more information about the Rosie Network, or ways to support programs, visit www.therosienetwork.org.
